Beckettian tragicomedy

Using Aristotle's, Plato's, and modern ideas on tragedy and comedy, as well as your own knowledge of genre and Waiting for Godot, write a definition of "Beckettian tragicomedy". Feel free to comment on other groups' definitions!

    DEFINITION :
    a play, with comic elements, in which the characters' situation is bad and doesn't change. By the end, the characters have not fulfilled their goal.

    DEFINITION : Form of theatre presenting regular or lower class characters stuck in a flat plotline without any evolution of their conditions throughout the play, causing the audience’s confusion between comedy and the pity they feel for those characters

  3. Group: Me (yes, I'm awful)

    Definition: Dark Comedy, set in any social background, with no particular plot, protagonist/main character, goal or even clear ending. Characters and settings are realistic, but with a darker twist that seems almost extreme.

  4. Group: Victor (a little bit) and me
    DEF: A play which mixes elements of tragedy (catharsisi) and comedy (average people) with funny dialogues and ambiguous moments. Moreover, the ending isn't particularly happy or sad which makes us able to see the play as a tragedy or a comedy.

      Also, couldn't the ending make us see the play as neither a tragedy nor a comedy?
